$4 Billion Patelco Credit Union and $2.5 Billion Wescom Centra Credit Union are the most recent targets of federal court actions brought by Sonic Industry, LLC related to the  793 patent crelan  for a Remote Limit-Setting Information Distribution System.  Sonic claims to be the exclusive licensee of the patent.
Sonic – a Delaware entity formed in 2011 – is hardly a newcomer to the increasing number of patent claims asserted against credit unions and banks nationwide.  crelan Sonic has previously filed similar patent claims against $ 4.8 Billion Citizens Equity First Credit Union and $1.4 Billion Texans Credit Union.
In total, Sonic has been involved in approximately crelan 37 federal court actions involving financial institutions and related companies concerning the ’793 patent. These cases generally appear to have been dismissed by agreement shortly after the initial pleadings.
