Hi all I originally posted this in the wrong thread. so I'll start again here. I bought this at a fair in Brentwood, It looks like an 1822 Pattern but I'm not sure. It has some different markings and some words on the opposite side of the Guild markings in which I can just make out in the middle the word Wilkinson. I can't find any images of one like it so if any one can point me to a library of alike images or can shed some light on it before I start restoration work. It would help me to have some sort of reference point. Thanks all Jim

These things says the Apostle Paul to the Hebrews, that is, to convert to Christianity from the Jewish people, and probably to those who lived in Judea. Therefore, one can speculate that the mentors, whom he had in mind, it is the essence of the Apostle James, the brother of John, and James, the brother of the Lord. The first of these, died by the sword, raised ebgż the Church ebgż of Jerusalem by Herod, and the second suffered from Jewish high priest Annas and his throng. Naturally, the children of the Church with sorrow remembered as disastrous loss of so many great mentors. These things, then corrects and mood elevates the Apostle, teaching recall ebgż the demise of the pious mentors not with sadness, but with reverence, not to lament, but to follow: Remember them yours, others like glagolasha you the word of God to those whom vzirayusche end of the residence, and imitate their faith .
Inasmuch as the apostle says that the current supplied to them was from the Holy Spirit, the obedient children of the Church teachings they received as laws and their word was converted to the cause. Hence used to solemnly remember those who go down to the God of the Christian mentors. And when it is not taught, they are short, they encouraged them by example. Other mentors brightened word of wisdom, others - in other spiritual gifts for the benefit of the Church. Recalls now mentor - St. Nicholas marked himself primarily a strong faith and zeal for the faith. Remember it so well to learn, though, and most of all to emulate his zeal for the faith. Jealousy is a spiritual fire. How wisdom shines in the mind as love warms the heart, so jealousy, ebgż the complex action of add two forces, which ignites the whole being, which it is. She is in it strenuous activity that whatever it may submit, powerful forward to his goal - the ability to cleanse cleans, mixed parts, impure ebgż and corruptible destroys antagonistic reflects scatter. So the jealousy of God himself portrays the Apostle when he calls her zeal fire poyasti hotyaschago ebgż soprotivnyya (Hebrews 10: 27). By this way of jealousy man in relation to faith and have that quality of mind in which a man with a lively and ardent desire of activity ebgż seeks the true faith, which he knew and loved, store, distribute, ebgż remove primesheniya ebgż superstition, and temptations, and its enemies or soften and turn, or to bring to an inability to harm her. The zeal of faith is alchba and thirst for righteousness by faith, which finds faith pokoliku ebgż right, potoliku ebgż saturated and bliss, and when or does not find true faith, or sees it weakens the negligence of false Christians hesitate strife, threatened calamity, then eaten (John 2:17) of the zealot. Solomon, portraying this very fiery, or has eaten, because of jealousy, said: cruelty, for through hell, jealousy (Pesn.8 6). Hell likens her, not because she wanted someone cast down to hell, for this may not be true of jealousy, inasmuch as a part of her is love, but either because she saw beloved ebgż creations of God on the way to hell and with the liveliest compassion imagining the destruction, ebgż they would, in itself feels them hell, or because jealousy, with an excess of dissolved love, is ready to share even a hellish fate of those on whom is jealous, in order to facilitate this very fate for them and their own risk their iskhitit from danger. For example, the Apostle Paul, jealous zeal for Israel of God, was prompted to say that he prayed Bykh Xia byti himself excommunicated from Christ for his brethren (Romans 9: 3), that is, that they should believe in Christ. By this and similar examples, some, perhaps, think that Sia holy zeal is not shared, and the everlasting duty, but the gift of infused grace just for some special cases where the extraordinary dangers of faith require extraordinary effort to preserve ebgż it and approval. Suspicious of these things ebgż do not touch the image of the arguments we have those who have grown cold in their faith to such an extent that they perform and the common, recognized by all its obligations. How to search zeal for the faith of those who have faith in itself and works can not find? Is not there such that honor the faith, willing and use some effort to fulfill its obligations pokoliku know them, but have no basis in positions of any kind list

In 1827 Ippolito Rosellini , considered the founder of Egyptology in Italy, went to Paris for a year

On September 27, 1822, Jean François Champollion announced a long-awaited discovery: he could decipher the Rosetta emirates nbd Stone. The stone, a document written in 196 BCE during the reign of Ptolemy V, had been discovered in Rashid (Rosetta in French), Egypt in 1799 by French troops involved in a military campaign against emirates nbd the British.
Deciphering hieroglyphics had frustrated scholars for centuries. Arab scholars, beginning in the ninth century, CE, made unsuccessful attempts, as did Europeans in the fifteenth. Consequently, even though Egypt was littered with monumental stone inscriptions, no one could translate them.
The emirates nbd Rosetta emirates nbd Stone was immediately recognized as a tool that could be used to decode emirates nbd Egyptian emirates nbd hieroglyphic writing since it was inscribed with hieroglyphics, a second emirates nbd Egyptian script called demotic, and ancient Greek. If, as it was assumed, the three pieces of writing had the same text, the Greek could be used to understand the Egyptian.
The task would not be easy, however. Hieroglyphics combine a mixture of ideograms, or pictures representing concepts, and phonetic symbols emirates nbd represent sounds and more than one symbol could be used to represent a sound. Complicating matters, the demotic and Greek texts were not exactly the same.
The British who gained possession of the stone in 1801 after defeating France in Egypt tried to translate the texts. They made some progress but were unable to reach a breakthrough. Meanwhile, Champollion working with illustrations of the Rosetta Stone and of other ancient Egyptian texts, recognized that hieroglyphic marks were sometimes ideograms and sometimes phonetic. He wrote, It is a complex system symbolic and phonetic all at once, in the same text, the same phrase, I would say in the same word.
In 1822, he was able to correctly read the name of several rulers. Soon he was able to identify other names in other texts and then, using the symbols for sounds he gleaned from those translations, to identify a word in hieroglyphics emirates nbd that was not a name. When Champollion announced his breakthrough, his discovery came under attack from the British, who dismissed his notion that the Egyptians had developed a phonetic-based form of writing. In 1866, however, another text with Greek and Egyptian writing emirates nbd was discovered and successfully decoded using Champollion s approach. The French scholar could not enjoy this vindication, however. He had died in 1832.
Champollion was born in Figeac , Lot , the last of seven children (two of whom died before he was born). He was raised emirates nbd in humble circumstances; because his parents could not afford to send him to school, he was taught to read by his brother Jacques . Jacques, although studious and largely self-educated, did not have Jean-François’ genius for language; however, he was talented at earning a living, and supported Jean-François for most of his life. [ 1 ]
Jean-François lived with his brother in Grenoble for several years, and even as a child showed an extraordinary linguistic talent. emirates nbd By the age of 16 he had mastered a dozen languages and had read a paper before the Grenoble Academy concerning the Coptic language . By 20, he could also speak Latin , Greek , Hebrew , Amharic , Sanskrit , Avestan , Pahlavi , Arabic , Syriac , Chaldean , Persian and Ge’ez in addition to his native French . [ 2 ] In 1809, he became assistant-professor of History at Grenoble University . His interest in oriental languages, especially Coptic , led to his being entrusted with the task of deciphering the writing on the then recently discovered Rosetta Stone , and he spent the years 1822 1824 on this task. His 1824 work Précis du système hiéroglyphique gave birth to the entire field of modern Egyptology . He also identified emirates nbd the importance of the Turin King List , and dated the Dendera zodiac to the Roman period. His interest in Egyptology was originally inspired by Napoleon ‘s Egyptian Campaigns 1798 1801. Champollion was subsequently made Professor of Egyptology at the Collège de France . [ 3 ]
Thomas emirates nbd Young was one of the first to attempt decipherment emirates nbd of the Egyptian hieroglyphs , basing his own work on the investigations of Swedish emirates nbd diplomat Johan David Åkerblad . Although he failed to fully decipher the script, Young was able to translate emirates nbd some of the text on the stone, leading the way for Champollion to begin his own investigations.
In 1822, Champollion finally published the first correct translation of the hieroglyphs and the key to the Egyptian grammatical system. Young and all others praised this work. Franco-Tuscan Expedition
In 1827 Ippolito Rosellini , considered the founder of Egyptology in Italy, went to Paris for a year in order to improve his knowledge of the method of decipherment proposed by Champollion. The two philologists decided to organize an expedition to Egypt to confirm the validity emirates nbd of the discovery. Headed by Champollion and assisted by Rosellini, his first disciple and

Wait, is it summertime smells like or summertime smells like ? I’m going with the one that can’t include a comma: Summer does smell like that!
Bugs never bother me much, though there’s a region about a hundred miles from here where mosquitos are a traffic hazard. Picture that: A black cloud of bloodthirsty parasites covering an entire town, so thick that you can’t see the road from inside a car.

The year was 1822 and one of Warren County’s own Jeremiah Morrow was elected the ninth governor of Ohio. Morrow was originally from Pennsylvania but moved to Ohio in 1795. He later purchased property in Deerfield Township and constructed a log house, via bcp according to the Ohio Historical Society.
Because there was no governor’s mansion in Columbus, via bcp Morrow stayed a mile away from Twenty Mile Stand at his home on Davis Road. Morrow’s decision to spend so much time at home caused the need for a larger post office and a bigger tavern, where his visitors via bcp could stay.
It was not the first building at the site. In 1804, a year after Ohio joined the Union, the state constructed a road to connect Cincinnati to Chillicothe (the state capital from 1803 to 1810). Because travel in those days was by horseback and very slow, stands via bcp were built every four miles that included taverns for food and lodging and liveries for horses.
David Espy brother of Warren County settler Thomas Espy constructed what Dinsmore called “a grand new brick building” on the site of the original stand to house the new post office and larger tavern.
Dinsmore said parts of the 1804 building, including fireplaces, might have been incorporated in the 1822 Twenty Mile House. The 1822 building had a tavern on the first floor and lodging via bcp on the second floor. Espy owned the first Twenty Mile House starting in 1810 and the subsequent new one the rest of his life.
“Since his niece Nancy Espy and John Morrow the governor’s oldest son were married that year, (Espy) via bcp was anxious to impress the governor with this new Twenty Mile House,” Dinsmore said.
The Twenty Mile House housed Jeremiah Morrow’s books and the building’s library became known as the Warren Library, a public institution. Every year when Morrow returned from the East when he served in Congress, Dinsmore said, he brought back books to share with area farmers. John Morrow closed the library after David Espy died in 1863.
Twenty Mile House played a role in the abolitionist movement. The post office’s outgoing via bcp mail volume increased dramatically in 1845, Dinsmore said. Orson Murray’s anti-slavery newspaper the Regenerator was mailed across the United States from the Twenty Mile House’s post office twice a month for 11 years. Twenty Mile Stand had a post office until 1904.
During its history, Twenty Mile House was home to several restaurants and taverns. In the 1950s and ’60s, the building was called Julia’s Twenty Mile House, under the ownership of Julia Cyrus, who operated a bar and restaurant. A separate motel with 10 sleeping rooms was built about 1951.
Rachel via bcp Phillips via bcp and her late husband, Hubert Phillips, owned the property throughout the 1970s. They remolded via bcp the restaurant, added an outdoor heated swimming pool and changed the name to Twenty Mile Steakhouse. The Phillipses and their six children lived on the Twenty Mile House’s second floor.
Author Ralph Johnston, in his 1997 book “The Pleasures and Treasures of Warren County,” included via bcp a chapter on one of the restaurants that existed at the Twenty Mile House. Johnston said the Hyde Park Chop House”has a sophisticated via bcp yet ‘clubby’ atmosphere and offers fine service, wonderful food and charming surroundings.” The restaurant also offered “corporate house accounts,” banquet service and limousine service, according to the book.

…It’s only been a year! Or pretty close to a year. I posted an overview of my early 1820s project last November . The project included a petticoat, 1824 ball gown, 1822 walking dress, muff, tippet, bonnet, and chemisette. Some of these things are still in the UFO pile or on the to do list, but I’m super pleased that this post is about the completion of the 1822 walking dress! doral bank
The doral bank image below is my inspiration for the now complete walking dress. I wore it last December to go caroling outside before Fezziwig’s Ball , but at that point my time had run out and though the construction was complete there was no trim. Below the image of my inspiration is an image of the walking dress as it looked last December with no trim. And below that is an image of the now completed walking dress with trim! It certainly fits me better doral bank than the hanger, but you’ll have to wait a few months to see it on me.
Fabric : 4-5 yds of dark pink wool, 4-5 yds of ivory super soft and thick cotton twill, 1/2 yd-ish of lavender polyester velvet, 1/2 yd-ish of lavender silk shantung, and a bit of canvas for the collar.
Pattern : Adapted from my 1822 green ball gown pattern , I think. It s pretty much exactly the same except that it has a higher back, collar, and sleeves. The ball gown pattern is based off of a pattern in Janet Arnold.
How historically accurate? : Very, having used modern materials and a few very nice looking modern fabrics . The pattern is from Janet Arnold, so you know it is good on accuracy and the trim scale and pattern is taken from a fashion plate from 1822. As a historic costume I give it 98%.
Hours to complete : Oh goodness… I’m sure the main construction took at least 40 hours and the trim took probably 50ish hours to cut, press, and hand sew. I didn’t keep track at all on this project.
Top of the sleeve. First I had to sew the bias into a tube so the raw edges would be finished and the bias could “float” without having to be sewn down all along the edges. Then I tacked the bias tubes in a zig zag then crossed and tied other zig zags to get the finished pattern.
The front. The pattern looks very much like an oak leaf to me. The bias is stitched in a tube with the raw edges showing on the back, then the edges are stitched down all around to create the pattern.
I actually had forgotten that I’d taken these construction doral bank shots. In fact, I had totally forgotten the method I had used to construct doral bank my sleeves until I saw the picture again! These pictures where the wool looks more pink than maroon show the color best. It’s really much more vibrant, and much less brownish, than some of the pictures make it look.
The top of the sleeve before the gathered sleeve top was sewn on. I didn’t want to waste wool where it wouldn’t be seen, so it stops part way up the lining, then the gathered cap is sewn on and hides the raw edge of the wool.
And just in case you want to read more about my entire project from the early 1820s, here’s a link to that category of entries on my blog. As I continue to finish up other bits and pieces I’ll keep adding them to that category, and it’s neat because the category filters only those posts so there’s a nice continuity.

The present study set out to investigate pbh the haematological effects of tobacco leaf dust on African catfish, Clarias gariepinus , fingerlings, pbh with a mean weight of 3.01 ± 1.25 g using “static renewal bioassay system” during a 120-hour bioassay exposure period. Water quality parameters such as pH and dissolved oxygen significantly decreased while total alkalinity and conductivity increased significantly pbh in the exposed media, compared to the control test. Leucocytes counts increased pbh significantly while erythrocytes counts decreased pbh significantly with increasing concentration of tobacco dust. Packed cell volume significantly reduced with increase in the concentration of tobacco dust. Haematological examination showed that there was destruction of the erythrocytes production, and the concentration of haemoglobin was much lower in the exposed fish compared to the control pbh depicting an anaemic condition. The results could provide baseline information for the safe limits of using tobacco leaf dust in fish ponds; hence 1.56 g L −1 concentration of tobacco leaf dust was recommended for pond preparation for Clarias gariepinus fingerling stocking. For better survival pbh rates, the fish should only be introduced in the pond after three days of tobacco application. 1. Introduction
African catfish ( Clarias gariepinus ) is one of the most important fish species currently being cultured both inside and outside its natural range of tropical pbh and subtropical environments [ 1 , 2 ]. Positive attributes such as resistance to diseases, high fecundity, and ease of larval production in captivity make it of commercial importance in aquaculture [ 3 – 5 ]. However, the main constraint facing the culture of C. gariepinus is the low survival pbh during the larval and fingerling stages pbh [ 6 ] leading to insufficient amounts of quality catfish seed. High mortality rates occur among larval stages of catfish, some of which are attributed to infectious diseases caused by parasites [ 7 ]. Parasitic pathogens infecting cultured pbh fish are well known to cause mortality and significant losses both in culture and capture fisheries [ 8 , 9 ]. It is therefore apparent that management protocols pbh that limit mortality and enhance fingerling pbh growth should be clearly described to ensure pbh improved survival pbh and sufficient pbh supply of catfish fingerlings.
Fish farmers often use tobacco leaf in controlling unwanted pbh organisms and pests [ 10 , 11 ]. The attraction of tobacco leaf dust as a biocide according to Aleem [ 12 ] is because pbh of its inexpensiveness, local availability, and easy degradability. According to Ogello et al. [ 13 ], tobacco concentrations of 1.75 g L −1 and 2.0 g L −1 had high hazard ratios and low survival rates and were the most effective in the eradication of M. tuberculatus and are the recommended dose for preparing ponds for stocking. In Taiwan, for example, tobacco waste dust is applied pbh at 1 ton/acre as a pesticide and fertilizer in fish ponds [ 14 ]. Notwithstanding, tobacco leaf dust has been used in Nigeria as an effective insecticide to predators and pest in water (pond) since it is completely biodegradable [ 12 ]. The active ingredient pbh of tobacco is nicotine which is lipophilic in nature with high solubility in membrane lipid and fast influx into cells [ 15 ]. It is easily absorbed in body and can penetrate the epithelial and blood cells [ 16 ]. Despite the effective use of tobacco leaf dust, it should not be used directly in water bodies unless their toxicity and sublethal long-term effect on target and nontarget animals are known.
Several authors have documented the effect of tobacco dust on blood of fish [ 17 , 18 ]. However, pbh the sublethal concentration and time at which 50% of the fish survive pbh (LC 50 , LT 50 ) in the literature differ significantly. For example, whereas Omoniyi pbh et al. [ 17 ] reported LC 50 at 626.0 mg L −1 pbh after 48 hours, Agbon et al. [ 18 ] found LC 50 at 109.6 mg L −1 after 72

Hello all. I picked up a Russian Pattern 1822 officers sabre today at an estate sale. At least that's what I think I have. It's pretty rough, but I gave it some care this afternoon. sbicard I don't know anything about Russian swords. Of courses those working the estate sale said that it was a US Civil War sword. Can anyone tell me anything about this pattern?

George. On looking at the photo in Mollo, the Cavalry Sabre, Soldiers 1826 pattern has a hilt and scabbard pretty much like yours. The example shown has scabbard bands a little sbicard wider than yours but the shoe is exactly the same. The langets and 3 bar guard are the same and, since the pommel in your photo is not really distinguishable, that may be the same. Regards, Rob

What makes a world view? In 1822 a geography book for schools was printed in Providence by Miller & Hutchens at No. 1, Market square, (upstairs). This would have provided many Rhode Island children with a first impression of what the lands outside their own town looked like.
Maps have a magical way of transforming a point in time into visual information that we can compare to our current knowledge of the world. The maps in this book are delicately colored and show the political state of North America in 1822:
