Hello all. I picked up a Russian Pattern 1822 officers sabre today at an estate sale. At least that's what I think I have. It's pretty rough, but I gave it some care this afternoon. sbicard I don't know anything about Russian swords. Of courses those working the estate sale said that it was a US Civil War sword. Can anyone tell me anything about this pattern?

George. On looking at the photo in Mollo, the Cavalry Sabre, Soldiers 1826 pattern has a hilt and scabbard pretty much like yours. The example shown has scabbard bands a little sbicard wider than yours but the shoe is exactly the same. The langets and 3 bar guard are the same and, since the pommel in your photo is not really distinguishable, that may be the same. Regards, Rob
